Be Sensitive

By Mike Benson

Let's face it guys, we know our own bodies pretty well, don't we? We know how much we weigh. We know how many cups of coffee it takes to keep us awake at night. We know how long we can stoop in the garden before our knees give out. We know when a pain requires a doctor's attention, and when it doesn't.

But now, consider. Just how well do we know our wive's bodies? The Bible says, "So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies."

Men, imagine how many of our marriages would improve if we tried to know and treat our wives with the same devoted care we bestow our own flesh.

Think about it.

My Desire For You

The high priests in Israel are to bless Israel with these words,

The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace. (Num. 6:24--26).

My dear friends, this is also my desire for you. These e-mail devotionals are not to make me known, but that you might know the Lord and know the fullness of His blessings for you. I believe with all my heart that all blessings come from the Lord, but everything begins with knowing what He says to us in the Scriptures. You shall have peace when you know His will for you. Therefore, I just uttered a prayer for you and I used the blessing from Numbers chapter 6 as the guide for my prayer.

Who Is Out of His Mind?

by Don Ruhl

Read the Bible in a Year This evening read Mark 3:20--35

Who Is Out of His Mind?

A large crowd gathers around Jesus so that He cannot even eat. Watch how his family reacts to this,

21 But when His own people heard about this, they went out to lay hold of Him, for they said, He is out of His mind (Mar. 3:21).

Many people throw around the very expression that these people use about Jesus. Listen carefully to what the world says about who is out of his mind. Are they following biblical standards? Are they just following what is popular? Will you be on their list next?

Work, Lest You Die

by Don Ruhl

Read the Bible in a Year This morning read Numbers 3 and 4

Work, Lest You Die

God warns Moses not to cut off the family of the Kohathites, who are of the tribe of Levi (Num. 4:18). Therefore, God says to Moses,

19 but do this in regard to them, that they may live and not die when they approach the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in and appoint each of them to his service and his task (Num. 4:19).

He also warns in verse 20, that the Kohathites are not to watch as the holy things are being covered. Zero in on verse 19 above. The Kohathites shall live when they do their work. Is there a lesson in there? Oh, I think so.

God designed men and women to be workers. We function best when working. This is true in both the world and in the church. So, what are you doing for the world and what are you doing for the church? Do you want to live before God? Get busy and work!

Jesus Changed Their Lives

by Don Ruhl

Read the Bible in a Year This evening read Mark 3:1--19

Jesus Changed Their Lives

The apostles are like all people, having dreams and ideas of what they shall do in life. All that changes when they meet Jesus.

14 Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach (Mar. 3:14).

What were their dreams before this appointment? I am sure that the dreams do not include the far-reaching changes that are coming to them when Jesus makes them preachers. They will travel to places that they never imagined. They will meet the most wonderful and the most horrible people in the world. They will do things and things will be done to them that never entered their minds.

This is what it is like when you meet Jesus and start to work for Him. Look over your life since meeting the Lord Jesus Christ. What rich experiences have you had?

How to Make Sure That Your Judgment Is Flawless

by Don Ruhl Read the Bible in a Year This evening read John 5:24--47 How to Make Sure That Your Judgment Is Flawless Yes, it is popular to say that we are not supposed to judge, but the truth is we all make judgments about many things daily. Otherwise, we would never succeed in life. The real question is what is our guide for judging. Why can we not simply follow the example of our Master and Lord? He said, 30 "I can of Myself ... more ...

Do You Ever Feel Like Just a Name?

by Don Ruhl Read the Bible in a Year This morning read First Chronicles 1--3 Do You Ever Feel Like Just a Name? Think on the manner, in which the Book of First Chronicles begins, 1 Adam, Seth, Enosh (1 Chr. 1:1). In this way begins the longest genealogy in the Bible. The names continue to the end of the ninth chapter! Were these just names? Adam; who is he? You know there is more in the Bible than the mere mention of his name in ... more ...

by Don Ruhl Read the Bible in a Year This evening read John 5:1--23 Jesus healed a man. Praise God! However, Jesus healed him on the Sabbath. Uh oh. Some people were ready to kill Jesus for this perceived violation of the Sabbath Law. 16 For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath (Joh. 5:16). Jesus did a good thing. Yet, people criticized Him severely for it. And they were not people ... more ...

They Were His Servants

by Don Ruhl Read the Bible in a Year This morning read Second Kings 24 and 25 They Were His Servants As the writer of Second Kings explains whom the Lord sent against Judah, the writer said that this was 2 ...according to the word of the LORD which He had spoken by His servants the prophets (2 Kin. 24:2). Those great men we have honored for centuries were nothing more than servants of the Lord God. What does that make us? Do you do something ... more ...

Having a Tender Heart

by Don Ruhl Read the Bible in a Year This morning read Second Kings 22 and 23 Having a Tender Heart When Josiah heard the word of God for the first time, he tore his clothes, knowing of the wrath that was upon Jerusalem for the idolatry of his forefathers. Therefore, he sent messengers to a prophetess to inquire of the Lord. He did have a message for Josiah. God said through the prophetess, 19 "...because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before ... more ...
